Music at the heart of Fulham
Alongside our commitment to the arts at St John’s, there are a number of opportunities available to those wishing to offer their music to God in worship. Currently, we offer free musical experience and training in the form of two choirss:
The Parish Choir is non-auditioning and comprises members of the congregation who are committed to leading our worship and a love of singing (as well as wanting to sing more beautifully!). This choir sings at our 10.00am Parish Mass every week but focuses on producing a special piece on the third Sunday of each month. Rehearsals take place every Sunday mornings at 9.30am.
The Schola Cantorum is auditioned and made up of professional and semi-professional singers who perform a wide range of music. The Schola meets to sing at our Parish Mass and Choral Evensong on the second Sunday of each month. In addition to this regular commitment, the choir sing at the occasional festal Solemn Mass through out the year. As with the Parish Choir, singers meet at 9.15am on Sunday, as well as at 5.00pm for a rehearsal before the 6.00pm Evening Service.
Instrumentalists are warmly invited to take part in our monthly Parade Service. You will need to audition for the Director of Music who will help you prepare to add your skills to our worship.
St John's is also a popular venue for concerts. If you would like to perform here please contact the Director of Music.
