At St John's, we take our faith in God
seriously, like St Alban, England's First Christian Martyr, we believe in
the 'True and Living God'. Every person has their own story to tell about
him and we come together to grow in strength and the ability to tell that
story. Some people have been living their faith for years - some people are
very new.
Because we believe Jesus is the answer, whatever your question, each year we host an Alpha Course for those who want to
ask the big questions about life, death and faith in God. And there are a
variety of groups that meet regularly to deepen our friendship with each other
and with Christ. Once you put your faith in Jesus you
then learn to live as a Christian. The Sacraments are the Church's way of
making God's life available. So we encourage children to receive Holy
Communion to develop their faith life. The course of preparation starts in
September for children
(from school Year 3 and above)
For a more mature decision there are Confirmation courses available to young people
in Secondary School (starting in January). And an Adult Confirmation Course,
again starting in the New Year, that includes film and visits to the
National Gallery! If you would like to find out more, please email our
Administrator. Click on one of the above courses to send an email and find out more...
There are groups running regularly which help us live our faith: the Book
Club meets monthly and uses the Church Times suggested reads, the
Men's Group meets regularly to socialise in a local restaurant and invites
occasional speakers, the Women's Group... well, that's still waiting to
happen! |
